In the evenings we availed ourselves of the sauna facilities followed by a spa (onsite shower first though). Its all outside surrounded by nature and quite private. Its not just quiet, its peaceful. The staff are engaging, friendly, spoke great English (making up for our poor French). Remarkbly good value. We felt very special , what a great way to finish up our 3 weeks in France.

La Maison de Mathilde is set in Bayeux, 100 metres from Baron Gerard Museum and 200 metres from Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry. The room was lovely and clean. For breakfast, there was coffee, juice, breads, yogurts, and American offerings like bacon and eggs. The location is near the cathedral, tour pick-ups, and many restaurants. We walked from the train station but taxis are available. Bayeux is a must-see. Don't miss the famous tapestry.

We had a room on the top floor which was one of the nicest I’ve ever stayed in. Very nice and helpful staff. Everything was perfect. Just a short walk to the center of the city with plenty of restaurants.

Hôtel Le Manoir De Mathan Crépon à la campagne 5 mn d'Arromanches et 10 mn de Bayeux is located in Crepon, a 30 minute drive from Caen and 3 km from the D-Day Beaches. The rooms were furnished with beautiful antique pieces and artwork. The bathroom had some newer fixtures, like a shower, but the vanity had all the old world flair. The rooms were very spacious and there was a living room set up in the children's room. They had a beautiful fireplace with a decorated mantle. The heavy brocade drapery was not only very lovely to look at but kept the sunshine out when we wanted to sleep in. The room was so elegant, you forget you are in this century. The dining area for breakfast was nicely decorated as well. The attention to detail was amazing. The outdoor courtyard was so quaint and peaceful. They have beautiful roses all over and you can sit and enjoy the quiet, beautiful countryside. I loved that the toilet room was separate from the bathing room. It had a great toilet and toilet paper dispenser. In Europe, many of the toilets are not made very well, this one was great. Still no fan in the bathroom though so bring your Poo Pouri! That staff was so friendly and spoke English very well. They were very helpful and made dinner reservations for us. They were very kind and told us the history of the area. This was the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in, in Europe! I seriously can't believe how spotless it was. We felt completely comfortable in our room and the dining area. The drive through the village was the most beautiful part of our trip and ending up in the room we had, made me feel like a princess in a fairy tale.
